Cripes!

Can't stop snacking.

Another reason to love the internet

The frames I picked out online on Tuesday night arrived today. I selected a pair and filled in the handy dandy form. The brother marked my pupils' positions on the lenses (Muchos thankies brother!) using the pen that was sent along with the frames. I closed the box using the sticker that had a pre-printed return address and postage paid impression.

Now, all I need to do is stick the box in a mailbox and in a few days, it will be "goodbye squinty!" Much cheaper than buying from a brick-and-mortar store too!

Last post for today

Talk about posting overload!

Anyway, finally had my fika and can report that being dipped in chocolate does nothing for a meringue.

At least I tried

Resisted the urge to pay a visit to The English Shop when I passed Söderhallarna on the way to the train station.

Unfortunately, no commuter trains were running because of an accident and that meant that I had to take the subway and the bus instead.

Before leaving the train station, I spotted the M&M's ad below and then I had to pass Söderhallarna again on the way to the subway. That is when I caved in.

Welcome to Sweden, M&M's!

Äntligen här! = Finally here!

Although they sell M&M's at The English Shop --- and briefly sold them at the neighborhood grocery store --- M&M's are only now becoming widely available here. Too bad that Pressbyrån, the chain that carries them, is the local version of 7-Eleven and thus has ouchy prices.

[Photo was taken at 1631. UPDATE: M&M's since spotted at ICA Kvantum Tumba for 30% less.].

Serendipity

Stumbled across Chokladfabriken's mint kisses online and thought they would make a great little Christmas gift (think stocking stuffer) for the brother since he's a fan of chocolate with mint, but didn't get around to buying them.

As I sat waiting for my pie to be served this afternoon, I noticed a Chokladfabriken store across the street and the rest is history.

Also in the photo, chocolate meringue and chocolate-covered coffee beans.

[Chokladfabriken = The Chocolate Factory]

Cards about upcoming events and movies

I was particularly interested in the one about a Mumin movie, but I consider these cards the paper equivalent of those bowls of after-dinner mints...so thanks, but no thanks.

[Photo was taken at 1439 today.]

Promised myself a slice of key lime pie if I passed my finals

It's time to collect, but I'll have to eat the Greek salad first.

Trying to start my day right

Food-wise, at least.

In keeping with the Chinese take-out theme

There was also a fortune included.

I guess you make a "fist step" when you're crawling with your fists closed.

It's all about the packaging

Bought this for the newborn niece mainly because of the Chinese take-out box. What's inside? A onesie with the Chinese character for "love".

Congratulations to the SIL, the brother, and the big niece on the new addition to the family! Welcome to the world, little niece!

Blast from the past

Remember that Dora balloon I colored several weeks ago? I rediscovered it today. It had shrunk significantly and that made the colors darker. Kewl!

The revenge of the chicken continues

Freaking sunny-side up looks like a chicken head.

One egg please

...hold the feathers! Or is that asking too much?

And so it begins

Am on time today.

The Wake-up Light woke me at 0600 but I didn't actually get out of bed until 0645. Maybe they should add a drag-your-sorry-ass-out-of-bed function.

Almost forgot my commuter card. Good thing I checked for it while I was standing in the elevator of the apartment building. Didn't have time to hunt for my gloves nor to eat breakfast though.

Time for a somewhat fresh start

As the days grew shorter and darker last year, I had to struggle to get myself to school on time --- or at all, actually --- so the niece and her parents got me a Wake-up Light for Christmas. Thanks Team Boch!

Now it's time to put it to the test. Our second semester begins tomorrow. Although I pledged to whine less in 2009, I really wish that we could have gotten a week off to rest, recharge and get all our ducks in a row, but alas...

On the fence

I'd never seen a Jesus doll before tonight. Someone else summed it up best by saying that she had yet to make up her mind as to how she felt about it. I don't consider myself very religious, but this felt iffy even for me...still, I may just get mumsy one as a present.

[I normally only post photos taken with my phone, but I thought this was too good to pass up, so I borrowed the image from the makers of the Jesus Little Thinker Doll.]

Public transport on Saturday night

...can be quite eventful. Two people got apprehended for traipsing around the tracks, the person previously sitting next to me on the train puked (good thing she stood up before then!), and my trip isn't over yet.

Meet the new improved (?) smiley face

This isn't the first time I've drawn a smiley in a letter, but it is the first time I've colored it in with yellow highlighter.

Time to psychoanalyze...

It is 4:00 PM

This is my first meal for today because I had to do some major cramming to get my oral report done --- why do I keep doing this to myself?!

Planned to wake up at 5:00 AM to work on it, but although the alarm was set to the right time, I forgot to activate it.

Next semester starts on Monday --- wonder of wonders, all my requirements were complete and on time! --- but I won't consider this semester to be over until I receive the results of my finals.

Still burning those candles

...but the sweet breads are back.

Purrty in a desolate kind of way

This garden catches my eye whenever I walk by Södertörn University.

It's probably teeming with students during the warmer months and that just makes it seem all the more desolate in the winter.

[Photo was taken at around noon today.]

A waste of a good clementine

Spotted this on the ground on the way to school this morning. Am curious about why it ended up there.

A little post-exam decompression

Sipping some glögg by candlelight. My new diet involves sniffing food-scented candles...tragic!

I'm also going over the answer key right now, how's that for decompression?

Size doesn't matter

...when the item is at 80% off. Actually, I'm hoping this pair of too snug pants (ordered online from Denmark) will give me a much-needed nudge on the long and arduous path to weight loss.

Also in the picture, a tuque. I've survived five winters without appropriate headgear because I don't like how they look, but my ears have been feeling cold recently (must be getting old). Also, the brother was teasing about buying me one from the Salvation Army.

Only 81 pages

This is by far the shortest book I've had to buy for med school. I mean I actually have a fighting chance of reading it from cover to cover.

Too bad it isn't significantly cheaper than its heftier counterparts. To borrow an expression from Liz Lemon, "Blurgh!"

As Jo March would say...

Christmas won't be Christmas without any Christmas TP!

And with this post, I bid the 08/09 holiday season goodbye.

Meet the Brazilian mango

The brother mistook it for an apple when he spotted it in the fridge.

As my impending nervous breakdown loomed ever closer

I took some time off to color one of the balloons from the niece's party yesterday.

There were only six marker colors, so...meet Irish Dora! She's a green-eyed redhead and while she may not have a cousin Diego, DNA testing has confirmed that she is related to Conan O'Brien.

Snack time!

Pecan sticky buns fresh out of the oven + glögg = glee!

Happy new year to me!

This is what I get for slacking off the rest of the year. Bah!

On another note...
Happy 3rd Birthday HRB Annika!
Happy Birthday Dudie Mia!
